To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the foundation of the Communist Party of China and greet the 2011 China Cultural Heritage Day, the Cultural Heritage Bureau of Shanghai, with 90 architectural heritages of the city and some museums and memorial halls, held relevant publicity campaigns on June 11th and 12th. DOBE’s F525 Creative Woods was Selected as One of the International Communication Programs of the 2011 China Cultural Heritage Day。At the same time, an activity hosted by Changning District People’s Government on the theme of “The Areas with Historical Cultural Features in Changning and The Cultural Tour with Old Impressions of Suhe”began on 14 former sites of Channing’s cultural buildings including F525 Creative Woods.
The predecessor of F525 Creative Woods is the Fahua Temple in Shanghai which was first built in the years of Kaibao of the Northern Song Dynasty. As one the Four Ancient Temples in Shanghai, Fahua Temple had been damaged during the Anti-Japanese War and used as a workshop of a garment factory after the liberation. Since DOBE obtained the management right of the factory, it found a new role for F525 and turned it into a creative industry cluster area. During the reconstruction, the supporting pillars from the Grand Hall of Fahua Temple was found by accident after hundreds of years of being covered with dust and became historical testimony.
It’s said F525 Creative Woods had received more than 200 visitors from home and abroad since it opened to the public from June 11th to 12th.
Some supporting pillars were rediscovered after being covered with dust for hundreds of years.
