On the morning of Nov. 9th, the 5th Session of Shanghai Steering Committee of Artistic Design Education was held in the meeting room of East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) & DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui Industry-University-Research Cooperation Base. Experts and professors from the artistic design schools of 18 universities, including Tongji University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Maritime University, Shanghai Normal University, and Fudan University, gathered at the meeting to discuss the development approach of collaborative innovation for Shanghai artistic design education. Qian Feng, Vice-chancellor of ECUST, Han Sheng, Director of Shanghai Steering Committee of Artistic Design Education and President of Shanghai Theatre Academy, and DOBE’s President Jia Bo attended the meeting.
Qian Feng, Vice-chancellor of ECUST said in his speech that holding this meeting in DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui was an attempt to cultivate creative talents by using collaborative innovation idea in the cooperation between artistic design education and industrial parks & enterprises. As the enterprise representative in the university-enterprise cooperation, DOBE President Jia Bo expressed sincere welcome to the arrival of the experts. He suggested that education and practice should be combined closely; collaborative innovation should be guided by the demand of the industry and market, and should be able to let entrepreneurs, teachers and students have more communication. In organizational mechanism, he hoped that enterprises could be absorbed into the team, and universities should open the door for collaboration.
It’s said that DOBE and ECUST have established a long-term industry-university- research partnership in using collaborative innovation idea to cultivate creative talents, and have made some achievements, including the establishment of “Design and Manufacturing Industry Connection Platform”, the holding of “2012 International Exchange Exhibition of Students’ Innovative Design Works”, “Exhibition of ECUST Postgraduates’ Design Works”, “2013 International Students’ Works Exchange Exhibition”, as well as the establishment of “ECUST & DOBE Art Postgraduates’ Joint Studio” with DOBE E-Manor of Xuhui as a practice base. The next stage of the cooperation between DOBE and ECUST is to let students walk out of campus and enter enterprises. DOBE and related enterprises in the park will provide ECUST students of artistic design major with related trainee positions and internships in their companies.
