Recently, invited by NYC x DESIGN Organizing Committee, DOBE and Shanghai Promotion Center for City of Design attended the “New York City-Shanghai Creative Design Dialogue” held in the headquarters building of Hearst Corporation, the largest comprehensive media group in USA.
Cultural Counselor Li Liyan and Consul Mu Xianghong of the Consulate General of China in New York, Deputy Director Xu Ziying of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Casermation Technology, Senior Vice President Edward Hogikyan of NYC & Company, General Manager Yang Xiuli of ELLE&ELLE DECO Brand of Hearst China attended the event. Urban Industry Section’s Head Liu Boying of Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Casermation Technology presided over the forum.
This event’s theme is “Design, the Vitality Source of Commerce”. Representative Designers from China and USA had a dialogue between the West and the East, based on their native cultures, around design and the source of power for cities, design and brand and commercialization. Shanghai Creative Design crossed half of the earth and switched space and time, to fuse Western culture and Eastern Culture here and let creative design coexist here.
After the keynote speeches, representative designers on both sides had exchanges, shared creative design ideas and discussed the future of fusion development. Both sides expected with the further deepening of the two cities’ cooperation, the two cities’ enterprises and designers would be able to form a regular exchange mechanism, ignite the sparks of creation in mutual leaning, and promote the two cities’ creative design industry ascend to a new height.
Director Xu Ziying said in her speech: “as China’s economic center, Shanghai pays special attention to developing the commercial and economic international cooperation and exchange of creative design. I hope by strengthening the exchange and interaction with New York and other international creative cities, international organizations and international associations in design field, and famous design exhibitions, we can build a creative design network and a cross-border cooperation platform, to support more Shanghai enterprises to build commercial communication and partnering mechanisms with other cities. Today’s New York City-Shanghai Creative Design Dialogue will further promote our communication and sharing. I hope by this opportunity, we can build a regular cooperation mechanism for creative design between New York and Shanghai, to promote our multi-aspect cooperation through more interaction between our governments, enterprises and designers.”
It’s reported that on this trip to New York, DOBE designed multiple letters of intent with some overseas cultural and creative institutions, startup incubators and cultural and creative enterprises. It plans to construct a “Silicon Valley Innovation Base for Science and Technology” in Silicon Valley. Depending on the base, DOBE will gather enterprises, talents, Casermation, technology, capital support and other resources, combine design, culture and creation with scientific and technological innovation, build a service platform to serve enterprises better, let them form a self-growth mode, to help Chinese enterprises walk out of China, and enhance the international strength of “Designed in China, Created in China”.
