On Nov. 4th, Yao Yuan, the famous contemporary Chinese artist, officially became a Special Cultural Consultant of DOBE. At the Appointment Ceremony, DOBE’s President Jia Bo presented a Letter of Appointment to Yao Yuan. Mr. Yao Yuan expressed full acknowledgement to DOBE’s contributions to the development and service of cultural & creative industry, and heartfelt admiration and praise to DOBE’s active devotion to public welfare undertakings, hoping to put forward more advice and strategies for DOBE’s development hereafter.
Yao Yuan is a famous contemporary Chinese sculptor, musician, songwriter, planner, playwright, director, and architectural designer. Currently, he is Chief Planner of China Creative Industry Alliance, Chief Advisor of China Cultural Industrial Investment Fund, Culture Industry Consultant of the Permanent Mission of PRC to the United National Industrial Development Organization, Researcher of the Cultural Industry Development Center of Peking University, and Chairman of World Peace Statue Foundation, etc. As a 24th-generation descendent of Wen Tianxiang, the great national hero in Chinese history, he explores bravely and innovates boldly. He has made remarkable achievements in literature, music, drama, painting, calligraphy, architecture, sculpture, performance, screenwriting, directing, photography, and other fields. He was the author and producer of the symphonic poem chorus Ode to the Great Wall, which welcomed the return of Hong Kong to China. In 2000, he made the copper sculpture “Safeguarding Peace” to commemorate the 55th Anniversary of the Victory of the Anti-Fascist War. He designed China’s gift to France for the China-France Culture Year, “World Peace Statue”, which was erected in Normandy, France, on June 3rd 2004.
